Don't believe it! A Facebook page is advertising for laborers to work in Australia with a six-figure salary, found to be using images from other companies to impersonate. Recently, a victim was found to have been scammed, losing over 200,000 baht.

Thai PBS Verify discovered a Facebook page called “W L H Business Recruitment Co., Ltd.” that had been posting messages inviting people to work abroad in countries such as South Korea and Australia, claiming  wages between 90,000-150,000 Baht.

However, upon investigation, it was found that the page was using images from other legitimate companies to appear credible. In one reported case, a victim was defrauded of more than 200,000 Baht as a result of this scam.

    Investigation process

The investigation found that the Facebook page “W L H Business Recruitment Co., Ltd.” introduced itself as a legitimate overseas recruitment company authorized by the Ministry of Labour, claiming to be a business services page

However, we used the Google Lens tool to check the images and found that one of the advertisements posted on the page matches an image from the “วีซ่าเชียงใหม่สุนันทาพาทัวร์รับทำวีซ่าและพาทัวร์ทุกประเทศ” page (reference link)

    Impact of False Information

The advertisement for foreign work recruitment attracted many people, resulting in numerous inquiries. One victim shared their experience, explaining that three months ago, they came across the advertisement for a job recruitment company on Facebook. Interested in working abroad, they reached out for more information.

The scammers then tricked them into sending personal details such as their passport, house registration, ID card copy, and photos. Additionally, they were asked to transfer 27,000 THB as a deposit to secure a quota

She then submitted the documents for the visa application. The company called and informed her that she needed at least 200,000 baht in her account. The scammer instructed her to follow the steps, but after doing so, the money in her account was completely drained, resulting in a total loss of 207,000 baht.

When she called to report that the money had been transferred out, the criminals informed her to transfer another 100,000 Baht to unlock the 207,000 Baht. It was only then that she realized she had been deceived. Even though she reported the incident, there was no progress

It violates the Employment and Labor Protection Act B.E. 2528 (1985) and is punishable under Section 66.
