Due to the abundant properties of the earth, water and air, this part of the region became known as the “land of flowing water and moving sands”. The Phetchaburi River has its source in the Tenasserim Hills. Alluvium is deposited by running water on the floodplains. This floodplain alluvium can be highly fertile, and in these parts have supported plantations and orchards on both banks.
